Advertising Terms
These terms govern advertising campaigns booked with Portage Signal, operated by SOCIAL MEDIA 55 INC., in addition to our general Terms of Use.
1. Booking a campaign
A campaign is confirmed once you accept a proposed schedule for the Downtown Directory Listing, Signal Weekly Podcast Mentions, or the Full Coverage Partnership, and payment is received. Availability is confirmed in writing, not assumed from an enquiry alone.
2. Creative deadlines
For a Downtown Directory Listing, we need your logo and description at least two working days before your requested start date. For podcast mentions, we need your script input at least five working days before recording, so it can be written, reviewed and scheduled. For the Full Coverage Partnership, creative for the whole six-week run is coordinated during the planning session in week one.
3. Approval
We share listing copy and podcast scripts with you before publication or recording. You have two working days to request changes; if we don't hear back, we proceed with the version already shared, on the confirmed schedule.
4. Make-goods
If a confirmed listing or mention does not run as scheduled due to an error on our part — a missed episode slot or a listing not published within the agreed window — we will offer a make-good: an additional run at no extra cost, or a partial refund of the affected portion, at your choice.
5. Editorial independence
Our news coverage is produced independently of our advertising sales. Advertising does not influence which stories we report or how we report them, and a paid placement never appears inside independent editorial content without being clearly labelled as sponsored. Partner-labelled features under the Full Coverage Partnership are always identified as paid content, separate from our newsroom's independent reporting.
6. Content standards
Advertising copy must accurately describe the business or organization advertising, and may not misrepresent products, services or pricing. We reserve the right to decline creative that does not meet this standard, or that falls into a restricted or regulated category.
7. Changes and cancellations
See our Returns Policy and our Payment & refund policy page for how to change or cancel a booked campaign.
